Share this: Former women’s bantamweight champion Holly Holm shockingly dropped a decision to Valentina Shevchenko on Saturday night, as all three judges scored their five-round UFC Fight Night Chicago bout 49-46. Holm, fighting for the first time since Miesha Tate took away her belt in March, started fast against Shevchenko, controlling the first round at United Center. Shevchenko rebounded toward the end of the second, though, and controlled the middle rounds to earn the decision over Holm, the second-ranked contender in the division. “I knew she was a counterpuncher — we were ready for that. She’s a tough girl — I knew that,” Holm said, via UFC.com. “I knew I had my hands full with this fight. I knew it was a really

Anderson Silva Pulled From UFC 198 Fight, Might Need Surgery
One of the biggest names on the UFC 198 card this weekend will no longer be participating. Anderson Silva has been pulled from his scheduled middleweight fight against Uriah Hall due to abdominal pain that doctors believe is related to a gall bladder issue, UFC officials confirmed to FOX Sports. After experiencing the pain, Silva was examined by a physician and diagnosed with cholecystitis, an inflammation of the gall bladder. The condition could result in Silva going into surgery to have the organ removed. “No decisions have been made as we are exploring the possibility of a new opponent for Hall,” UFC officials told FOX Sports on Tuesday.
Wayne Simmonds, Dylan McIlrath Have Spirited Fight After Pregame Chat (Video)

The longtime rivals squared off in a chippy affair Sunday night, and as usual, there was no love lost. That was to be expected, too, as there was a score to settle after the two teams faced each other a week ago in Philly. Flyers forward Wayne Simmonds was ejected from a Feb. 6 game against the Rangers for a sucker punch to the face of New York captain Ryan McDonagh. The Rangers defense suffered a concussion and hasn’t played since. With the two teams getting together just a week

And that goes double for this Saturday’s main event on FOX, as No. 4-ranked light heavyweight Ryan Bader is putting his impressive five-fight win streak on the line against destruction artist and No. 2-ranked Anthony “Rumble” Johnson. “If he wins this fight then he gets a title shot and, if I lose, I don’t get a title shot,” Johnson said. “All I know is that I have to go out there and do my thing. That’s what I’ve been

Jack Edwards Says Bruins Were ‘Fighting the Good Fight’ on Way to Knocking Out Canadiens in Game 7
= It wasn't easy by any stretch of the imagination, but the Bruins were able to come away with the win in Game 7 against the Canadiens, and more importantly, they were able to come away with the series. NESN Bruins play-by-play announcer Jack Edwards compared the thrilling win to not only a defeat of the Canadiens, but a defeat of hockey royalty. To hear all of what he had to say, see the video above. The full transcript of Jack's closing thoughts is below. "As I was driving from the former seat of all NHL power, Montreal, through the free and independent states of Vermont, New Hampshire, and Massachusetts today, it struck me what an odd thing royalty is. "Royalty in modern
