Red Sox Vs. Twins Lineup: Chris Sale Gets Start In Front Of Reshuffled Order

The Boston Red Sox are sticking with a new-look lineup Sunday, and with good reason. Manager John Farrell bumped Mookie Betts up to the lead-off spot and batted Andrew Benintendi cleanup Saturday against the Minnesota Twins, and the change produced an 11-1 Red Sox rout at Target Field. That same lineup will take the field Sunday in the Red Sox’s series finale versus the Twins, with one exception: Deven Marrero will start at third base and bat ninth in place of Josh Rutledge. Benintendi will play center field, meaning Jackie Bradley Jr. is out of the lineup for the second straight game. Boston’s bats should be in good hands with Chris Sale on

Marquez on Jerez: “I think we’ll be able to do well”

Marc Marquez: “I’m happy the next round is back in Spain after three flyaway GPs, because racing at home and in front of my fan club is always special.  Of course our win in Austin gave the whole team more confidence and motivation to keep up the hard work and to try to understand how to further improve our bike’s setup, although Jerez is one of the most difficult and tricky circuits from that point of view. It’s kind of an ‘old school’ track: very short, very narrow, with heavy acceleration points and strong braking areas. You have to make the bike turn well but you also need good stability under braking, because that’s where you can get good lap

Celtics Notes: Isaiah Thomas Can’t Handle Avery Bradley Praising His Defense

Share this: BOSTON — That Isaiah Thomas and Avery Bradley both played key roles in the Celtics’ Game 5 win over the Chicago Bulls on Wednesday is no surprise. But Bradley shining on offense and Thomas stepping up on defense? Now that’s a little more eye-opening. Bradley, usually known for his smothering defense, went off for a playoff career high 24 points, hitting 11 of 19 shots while grabbing six rebounds. And the 5-foot-9 (on paper) Thomas, often labeled a defensive liability, held his own on defense down the stretch, even snatching a clutch defensive rebound in traffic in the fourth quarter. In fact, the All-Star point guard’s defensive effort was good enough to prompt this humorous exchange between he and Bradley in their postgame

Rajon Rondo Totally Gets Why Celtics Fans Are Booing Him In NBA Playoffs

Share this: Rajon Rondo gets it. Boston Celtics fans booed the Chicago Bulls point guard throughout Game 1 of the teams’ first-round playoff series Sunday, and there’s a good chance the TD Garden crowd will continue to let Rondo hear it amid the heat of battle. The way Rondo sees it, it’s nothing personal. In fact, the former Celtics star expects nothing less from the boisterous fans who once cheered him on for eight-plus seasons. “These fans are great,” Rondo said before Tuesday’s shootaround, according to ESPN.com. “I wouldn’t expect anything else. A couple nice words were said when I walked out of the tunnel, but that’s Boston. They’ve been doing that for me for nine years while I was here so I

Isaiah Thomas Crying On Court Made Charles Barkley ‘Uncomfortable’

Share this: Isaiah Thomas entered the Boston Celtics’ matchup with the Chicago Bulls on Sunday with emotions running high. Just a day before Game 1 of his team’s first-round playoff series, Thomas tragically lost his 22-year-old sister to a single-car crash in Washington. The star guard was hurting entering the game against the Bulls, which Celtics head coach Brad Stevens attested to prior to the matchup. Thomas manifested these feelings prior to the game, as he was visibly emotional during player introductions when the TD Garden crowd gave him a raucous ovation. While Thomas received unwavering support for taking the floor Sunday, the emotion he showed hours before tip-off was not well received by one basketball analyst. Speaking on TNT’s “Inside the NBA” on Sunday, Charles Barkley

Despite Ugly Loss Friday Night, Red Sox Pitching Off To A Good Start

Despite Ugly Loss Friday Night, Red Sox Pitching Off To A Good Start

Despite the performance by Rick Porcello and the Red Sox on Friday night, the pitching is already off to a better start 10 games into the season compared to last season. Through 10 games in 2017, the Red Sox offensive numbers are down from a year ago, but their pitching has improved and is trending in the right direction. The team currently has a 4.40 ERA compared to a 4.81 ERA through their first 10 games of 2016. The addition of Chris Sale has certainly helped and should get even better when David Price returns. Roman conquest gives OL’s Fekir taste for glory

Roman conquest gives OL’s Fekir taste for glory

A goalscoring hero of Lyon's round of 16 defeat of Roma, French international forward Nabil Fekir tells UEFA.com about his team's devastating attacking options, their next opponents Beşiktaş and, of course, their wider UEFA Europa League ambitions. How important was it for Lyon to take the scalp of Roma in the last 16? What we did was really impressive. We managed to knock out Roma, who are a big club. We managed to eliminate a really good European side. However, it wasn't the final. It was good but we can't stop there. We have two matches against Beşiktaş coming up. We need to
