Red Sox Notes: John Farrell Totally Saw David Ortiz’s Amazing Season Coming

Share this: Anyone who has followed the Boston Red Sox over the last 13 years knows better than to underestimate David Ortiz. With that said, we wouldn’t blame you if you failed to predict this. The 40-year-old designated hitter is in the midst of one of the greatest final seasons in Major League Baseball history, seemingly reaching milestones on a nightly basis. Monday night was no exception, as Ortiz became the oldest player to hit 35 home runs in a season with a two-run blast at Camden Yards that helped lift the Red Sox to a 5-2 win over the Baltimore Orioles. Big Papi now leads the team with 35 homers and 118 RBIs, incredible numbers for a player his age. Given that Ortiz hasn’t topped

Hanley Ramirez Hits Second Home Run Of Game Vs. Yankees, Continues To Rake

Share this: BOSTON — Stop us if you’ve heard this story before, but Hanley Ramirez hit another home run. The Red Sox first baseman, who’s been going yard at an insane rate, hit a three-run blast in the fifth inning of Sunday’s game against the New York Yankees, but that apparently wasn’t enough for him. Ramirez hit a second home run, a solo shot that cleared the Green Monster, off Yankees reliever Tyler Clippard in the seventh. Ramirez now has 28 home runs this season, including 12 in his last 21 games. He hit four against the Yankees in this series alone. Red Sox Wrap: Hanley Ramirez’s Walk-Off Homer Gives Boston 7-5 Win Vs. Yankees

Share this: BOSTON — Hanley Ramirez was a hero in Boston on Thursday night. After Red Sox starter Eduardo Rodriguez dug a deep hole for his club, giving up four runs over just 2 1/3 innings, Boston looked to be out of this one. But with a late surge from the Red Sox’s offense, they were able to walk off with a 7-5 win thanks to a monster three-run homer by Ramirez. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDNail-biter. The Red Sox looked as though they’d lost this game through most of the contest. They didn’t generate much offense, which didn’t help them overcome Rodriguez’s poor start. But Boston put runs on the board when it needed to, and with two outs in

The Toronto Blue Jays also lost Tuesday, meaning the Red Sox still own a two-game lead over Toronto and Baltimore in the American League East. Here’s how this one went down. Braves Prospect Dansby Swanson’s First Career Homer Stays Inside The Park

Share this: Dansby Swanson’s first major league home run was anything but conventional. The Atlanta Braves rookie shortstop made his Major League Baseball debut on Aug. 17, and his first round-tripper came Tuesday against the Washington Nationals. But Swanson’s home run never left the yard. Instead, Swanson sent a ball to deep center field, where it took a big bounce off the wall. The speedy 22-year-old was able to stretch it into an inside-the-park home run by running the bases in 14.97 seconds. Swanson was the Arizona Diamondbacks’ No. 1 pick out of Vanderbilt in the 2015 draft. He was one of the players the Braves got in return for pitcher Shelby Miller. Despite Swanson’s run, the Braves lost 9-7 to the Nats. Thumbnail photo via Brad
