Share this: Mookie Betts has been on a tear at the plate. While there are many impressive statistics to look at, his 65 extra-base hits have to be near the top. And there’s a good chance he’ll add to that total in Baltimore, where he’s hitting .419 with six home runs and 12 RBIs this season. Hear what Betts told NESN’s Gary Striewski about Boston’s series against the Orioles, which begins Tuesday night at Camden Yards, in the video from “Red Sox First Pitch” above. Ichiro Suzuki Joins 3,000-Hit Club In Impressive Fashion With Triple
Share this: Pete Rose and others can debate Ichiro Suzuki’s “all-time” hits record all they want, but the legendary Japanese outfielder reminded everyone Sunday that his accomplishments in Major League Baseball are impressive in their own right. Ichiro tallied his 3,000th MLB hit against the Colorado Rockies and did so in style, launching a triple to right field in the seventh inning of the Miami Marlins’ 10-7 win at Coors Field. The 42-year-old is the 30th big league player to reach the 3,000-hit plateau and the second to do so in as many seasons, as Alex Rodriguez accomplished the feat in 2015 with the New York Yankees. Ichiro didn’t exactly limp to 3,000 hits, either: He entered Sunday hitting .318 through 94 games this season for
Malcolm Mitchell: Patriots’ Preparation ‘Most Impressive Thing I’ve Ever Seen’
Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — It didn’t take long for Malcolm Mitchell to realize why the New England Patriots are so successful. Mitchell was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 NFL Draft out of Georgia, and he’s noticed the Patriots take their preparation very seriously. “Everything matters, from what you eat to how you hydrate to how much rest you get, to the amount of time you spend doing plays,” Mitchell said Sunday. “There’s not a single thing from the cleats you wear, to how you strap on your pads, to your mouthpiece, there’s not a piece that goes unnoticed. That, by far, is the most impressive thing I’ve ever seen thus far in my young life, to see something so detailed,
Jordan Spieth’s Impressive Shot Off Cart Path Leads To Potential Controversy
Share this: Jordan Spieth has had a rocky relationship with water this season. Spieth had his second straight Masters title within reach earlier this year before hitting back-to-back shots into the water on the 12th hole. Fast forward to Friday’s second round of the PGA Championship and Spieth once again hit a ball into the water, although this situation was a bit different. Spieth hit his drive on the par-4 seventh hole into a puddle on a cart path, which he received relief from after a lengthy discussion with rules officials. It was a complicated situation since the ball and Spieth couldn’t touch any part of the water after the relief, so finding the perfect drop spot wasn’t easy. But they ultimately figured out a solution, and
Liverpool Transfer News: Joe Allen Sold To Stoke City After Impressive Euro 2016
Joe Allen on Monday completed a permanent transfer from Liverpool FC to Stoke City. The midfielder, who joined the club from Swansea City in the summer of 2012, moves to the Premier League club after four years with the Reds. The Wales international made his debut in an opening-day defeat at West Bromwich Albion and clocked up 37 appearances that season. He went on to play 24 league games in 2013-14 as the team finished second to Manchester City and secured a return to UEFA Champions League soccer. Last term, Allen converted the winning penalty against his new side as Liverpool reached the League Cup final, and was brought on as a substitu... NESN.com
Stephen Curry Pulls Up From Halfcourt, Drains Impressive 3-Pointer (Video)
Is there anything Steph Curry can’t do? We’ve seen the Golden State Warriors point guard hit incredible, mind-boggling shots before. His pregame shooting routines — which include pull-up jumpers often from just a step inside the logo at halfcourt — practically are Hall of Fame-worthy displays on their own. But doing it during a game is something entirely different. There really aren’t any words that can do this justice, other than maybe shouting some indiscernible things through your screen in caps lock. So instead of doing that, we’re going to shut up and let you marvel at the magic that is Steph Curry. Curry’s magic wa...

Clayton Kershaw was going toe-to-toe with Mets’ ace Jacob deGrom during Game 1 of the teams’ National League Division Series on Friday, but that all changed when Daniel Murphy stepped into the batter’s box in the fourth inning.
