Luc Nilis, now a coach at PSV Eindhoven, recalls the last time the Eredivisie club met their matchday three opponents Bayern München, in the 1999/2000 group stage. PSV had lost away from home six weeks earlier but gained revenge in the south Netherlands, with their Belgian striker inflicting much of the damage. UEFA.com: What do you remember from the run-up to the last group stage match between PSV and Bayern?Luc Nilis: I think Bayern were as big a team then as they are today, so for us it was very special to be able to make a name for ourselves in Europe and achieve something sp... Red Sox Vs. Yankees Lineup: Boston’s Stars Get Night Off After Clinching Division
Some of the Boston Red Sox’s heaviest hitters are getting a night off after helping the team clinch the American League East. The Red Sox won another division title Wednesday night despite losing to the New York Yankees 5-3 after first baseman Mark Teixeira’s walk-off grand slam. And Boston is in full playoff mode now, making sure its starters get some rest Thursday before the real hard work begins. Aaron Hill is leading off and playing third base as Brock Holt and Boston’s usual No.-1 hitter Dustin Pedroia are out of Thursday’s lineup. Deven Marrero will start at second base in Pedroia’s stead and bat last, while Travis Shaw takes over at ... NESN.com
Mookie Betts Breaks Out ‘Jump On It’ Dance After Red Sox Beat Rays
Share this: Another day, another victory dance. The Boston Red Sox’s outfielders have given fans something to look forward to after every win thanks to their creative celebratory dances. And just one night after Mookie Betts debuted “The Carlton,” the right fielder moved on to the “Jump On It” dance after Saturday’s 6-4 win over the Tampa Bay Rays. The dance goes with The Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache” and also was featured in an episode of “The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” so it looks as though Betts is sticking to a theme. He might need to think of a few more dances, though, as the Red Sox are riding a 10-game win streak. Thumbnail photo via Jake Roth/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Bill Belichick Sarcastically Praises Patriots’ Color Rush Uniforms
Share this: As you might know, Bill Belichick doesn’t have a lot of patience for non-football matters, whether that’s banners, media narratives, social media or uniforms. The New England Patriots head coach was asked Friday about the color rush uniforms his team wore Thursday night, and if they brought back bad memories of a similar blue-on-blue combination they wore in a 2002 loss. Winslow Townson/USA TODAY Sports Images “Yeah, I mean I wish that was all there was to it,” Belichick said. “Just put on a new pair of socks or change uniforms or something like that. It’s a lot more to it than that. “I mean, I can’t even tell you how excited I was about the uniforms last night. That’s really incredible.” Belichick also was

Red Sox Wrap: Hanley Ramirez Lifts Boston To 5-4 Comeback Win Vs. Yankees
Share this: BOSTON — It doesn’t get much more exciting than meaningful September baseball. The Red Sox finished out a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees on Sunday night despite a rough outing from starter Drew Pomeranz. The lefty put Boston in a four-run hole, but Hanley Ramirez did most of the work after that, crushing two homers to eventually give the Red Sox a 5-4 come-from-behind win. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDHanley. When you score most of your team’s runs with two homers, you get to be the word of the game. IT WAS OVER WHEN …Koji Uehara finished out the ninth.
