Dustin Pedroia Fouls Ball Off Ankle, Exits Red-Sox Dodgers With Injury

Share this: Dustin Pedroia suffered a pretty painful, self-inflicted injury Friday night. The Boston Red Sox second baseman was batting against Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Scott Kazmir in the top of the third inning at Dodger Stadium when he fouled a 2-2 offering hard off his left ankle. Pedroia fell to the ground in pain, as manager John Farrell and the Red Sox’s training staff immediately came out to check on him. Pedroia finished the at-bat but clearly was hurting, as the usually hard-running veteran jogged slowly down the line after grounding out to second base and walked gingerly back to the dugout. His night ended with that play, as Travis Shaw entered the game in his spot and moved to third base, with Aaron Hill

Red Sox Vs. Mariners Lineups: Drew Pomeranz On Mound; Dustin Pedroia At Cleanup

Share this: The Boston Red Sox will need Drew Pomeranz to return to his All-Star form Thursday if they want to earn a split with the Seattle Mariners. The left-hander is 0-2 with a 7.53 ERA in three starts since joining the Red Sox on July 14. But history will be on his side when he takes the mound in the final contest of Boston’s four-game set with Seattle: Pomeranz is 3-0 with a 1.21 ERA in 11 career appearances against the Mariners. Pomeranz will seek support from a Red Sox lineup that features Dustin Pedroia batting fourth for just the 35th time in his career. The second baseman has thrived in that limited role, however, posting a .385/.430/.654 slash line with seven homers and 29

Red Sox Notes: Dustin Pedroia Keeps Faith In Boston After Brutal Loss To Angels

BOSTON — As far as losses go, it doesn’t get much worse than what happened to the Red Sox on Saturday night. The Los Angeles Angels demolished Boston 21-2 in a game that Red Sox manager John Farrell said he was embarrassed by. The contest was rough for everyone, as the pitching (obviously) imploded, the defense allowed seven unearned runs on a season-high four errors and the offense barely got on the board. But Dustin Pedroia wasn’t ready to give up on his team quite so easily after the game. “Yeah, absolutely we need to get out of (the slump),” the second baseman said. “We need to play better. But going into the year,

Red Sox Notes: Dustin Pedroia, Brock Holt Set Tone At Top For Boston

by Zack Cox on Sat, Jun 6, 2015 at 1:18AM BOSTON — The Red Sox received a great deal of pop from the top Friday night in their win over the Oakland A’s. Dustin Pedroia and Brock Holt, the Nos. 1 and 2 batters in Boston’s order, went a combined 5-for-8 with two doubles in the 4-2 victory, providing nearly half of the team’s 11 hits and scoring two of its four runs. “They did (set the tone),” manager John Farrell said. “Five hits combined, some good energy on the basepaths. Pedey, who’s had good success agains...
