Alex Cora Not Worried About Red Sox’s Starting Pitching

It hasn’t been one of the best begin to the 2019 Major League Baseball season for the Boston Red Sox, significantly the beginning pitching. Each of the 4 starters (Chris Sale, Nathan Eovaldi, Eduardo Rodriguez and Rick Porcello) all have surrendered at the very least six runs of their outing, with Porcello giving up 9 in Boston’s 10-Eight loss to the Seattle Mariners at T-Mobile Park on Sunday. But regardless of the early-season woes, supervisor Alex Cora isn’t letting it take up area in his thoughts, merely telling reporters after the sport, “we’ll be fine.” To hear from Cora’s full feedback, try the “Red Sox Extra Innings” video above, introduced by W.B. Red Sox Vs. Yankees Preview: How Pitching Rotations Line Up For Critical Series

The Boston Red Sox will welcome the New York Yankees to Fenway Park on Thursday for the beginning of a four-game set that could have huge implications for the American League East race. After Yankees right-hander Sonny Gray was pummeled by the Baltimore Orioles and subsequently booed off the mound at Yankee Stadium on Wednesday, New York will enter the series 5 1/2 games back of Major League Baseball’s best team. Yankees general manager Brian Cashman is certain his team is the only one that has given the Red Sox fits this season, and the Bronx Bombers will have to prove him right in order to trim Boston’s division lead. With that being sa... NESN.com

Despite Ugly Loss Friday Night, Red Sox Pitching Off To A Good Start

Despite Ugly Loss Friday Night, Red Sox Pitching Off To A Good Start

Despite the performance by Rick Porcello and the Red Sox on Friday night, the pitching is already off to a better start 10 games into the season compared to last season. Through 10 games in 2017, the Red Sox offensive numbers are down from a year ago, but their pitching has improved and is trending in the right direction. The team currently has a 4.40 ERA compared to a 4.81 ERA through their first 10 games of 2016. The addition of Chris Sale has certainly helped and should get even better when David Price returns. Red Sox Notes: Boston’s Offense Gets Fooled By Cleveland’s Pitching In ALDS Game 1

Red Sox Notes: Boston’s Offense Gets Fooled By Cleveland’s Pitching In ALDS Game 1

The Boston Red Sox’s strong suit going into the playoffs was their offense, but that’s not how it worked out Thursday. The Red Sox dropped Game 1 of their American League Division Series against the Cleveland Indians 5-4, partly because of a lackluster performance from starter Rick Porcello, who gave up three solo home runs in the third inning. However, the offense really didn’t do Porcello any favors. The Red Sox were swinging at everything and especially had trouble with breaking balls. The Indians’ pitching staff generated a whopping 28 swing-and-misses, and 18 of them were on breaking pitches. Eleven of the Red Sox’s 14 strikeouts were swi... NESN.com

Indians Announce ALDS Pitching Rotation; Red Sox’s Still To Be Determined

BOSTON — Where the Red Sox and Cleveland Indians will play Game 1 of the American League Division Series still is unknown. What we do know, however, is who will be on the mound for the Tribe next Thursday. Indians manager Terry Francona announced Saturday that right-hander Trevor Bauer will be the team’s Game 1 starter, with righty Corey Kluber set to pitch Game 2 on Friday. According to MLB.com’s Jordan Bastian, right-hander Josh Tomlin is set to start Game 3, which means Cleveland’s full rotation for the five-game series will feature all righties. Kluber is the Indians’ ace and apparently requested to pitch Game 1. But he recently m... NESN.com

Drew Pomeranz Looks To Help Red Sox By Pitching Deeper Into Games

Share this: Drew Pomeranz was by no means lights out Wednesday against the New York Yankees, but he did have one of his better outings in a Boston Red Sox uniform. Pomeranz lasted 5 1/3 innings in Wednesday’s 9-4 loss to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, but the Boston Red Sox left-hander only allowed one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts. However, the bullpen had to pick up the workload from there, and things didn’t go well for Matt Barnes, Fernando Abad, Junichi Tazawa, Robbie Ross Jr. and Co. Hear what Pomeranz had to say about his performance in the video from “Red Sox Final” above. Thumbnail photo via Bob DeChiara/USA TODAY Sports Images More Stories Source link

Red Sox Wrap: All-Around Rough Pitching Gives Boston 11-9 Loss To Twins

Share this: BOSTON — Saturday’s Red Sox game against the Minnesota Twins certainly didn’t unfold the way anyone expected it to. After high winds made for a bad start for both teams, the Red Sox seemed to have plenty of cushion with an 8-5 lead going into the seventh inning. However, some bad relief performances put the Twins ahead 10-8, and they never let go of the lead en route to an 11-9 win over Boston. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDLong. Besides the actual time of game, this contest really felt like two games in one. The score was 6-4 Red Sox in just the second inning thanks in part to some intense winds swirling at Fenway Park. But when they
