Share this: Terry Francona’s bullpen decisions Thursday night gave baseball fans a lot to chew on. But the Cleveland Indians manager still was able to have some fun before things got started. The Indians defeated Francona’s old team, the Boston Red Sox, in Game 1 of the American League Division Series at Progressive Field. Francona still is very close with several Red Sox players, though, including Dustin Pedroia, who played under “Tito” for six seasons from 2006 to 2011. So, just before Game 1 kicked off, Francona decided to engage in some shenanigans with his former second baseman. BC Will Honor 9/11 Hero Welles Crowther With Red Bandana Uniforms Vs. Clemson

Share this: Welles Crowther, known as “The Man with the Red Bandana,” saved at least a dozen people in the South Tower of the World Trade Center on Sept. 11, 2001. And when Boston College hosts the Clemson Tigers on Friday night, Crowther will be honored by his alma mater. Crowther, who played lacrosse for BC, had a signature red bandana, and he was wearing it when he died after the South Tower collapsed. When the Eagles play the Tigers under the lights, they’ll be wearing uniforms inspired by Crowther’s famous bandana. The gesture will be a part of the Eagles’ Service Game, an event the Crowther family will be on hand to witness. The coaching staff also will wear Under Armour apparel featuring the bandana

Palmer’s family has decided to hold a public memorial service for him on Oct. 4 in  in his home town of Latrobe, Pa., The Florida Times-Union’s Garry Smits reported Tuesday. The legendary golfer died Sunday, but his family decided to schedule a public service after the Ryder Cup, which takes place this week, because he that’s what he would have wanted. “(Alastair) Johnston (CEO of Arnold Palmer Enterprises) says Palmer would not have wanted event he played six times and was a captain twice, to be overshadowed,” Smits writes.
