Share this: With the recent undisclosed injuries to Kevan Miller and Adam McQuaid, even more opportunities are there for the Boston Bruins’ younger players to step up heading into the 2016-17 season. “We’ve said all along the opportunity will be there for younger players if they’re able to step forward, and you’re seeing throughout camp we’ve had a couple players who have emerged in that regard, whether that’s through injury or through their good play,” Bruins general manager Don Sweeney said at the team’s media day Tuesday. “And the coaching staff has been excited about their play, so we move forward with that and we feel they’ve added a lot of dimensions to our team.” Hear more in the video from “NESN Sports Today,” presented

Boston Red Sox Still Have Solid Core, Aren’t Going Anywhere In 2017
Share this: BOSTON — The Red Sox’s 2016 season ended with a thud after they were swept by the Cleveland Indians in the American League Division Series, but they’re still going to be a team to look out for in 2017. Boston exceeded the expectations of many when they ran away with the AL East and finished with a 93-69 record, but it didn’t look like a one-year fluke. The Red Sox’s offense was legitimately dominant, and there’s no reason to believe they can’t come back and do it again next year. “I’ve not thought anything beyond (Monday’s) game,” Red Sox manager John Farrell said after Boston’s 4-3 loss to the Tribe. “And that’s the approach I take every day, through 162 games and through
Tom Brady On Bill Belichick’s Historical Greatness, Vacation To Italy
Share this: What do you ask Tom Brady three weeks into a four-game suspension? Jim Gray of Westwood One answered that question Monday during his weekly conversation with the New England Patriots quarterback. Brady talked Bill Belichick, Arnold Palmer, his trip to Italy and more. Here are the highlights: On vacation to Italy: “We had a great time. It was a great chance to get away. I’ve never had an opportunity in September and hopefully I don’t have one for a very, very long time.” On whether he watched this weekend’s games: “I caught all the highlights. They don’t have that Red Zone channel that I love so much over here, but they were playing a couple games, and it was fun to see some of
Jacoby Brissett Named One Of Patriots’ Practice Players Of The Week
Share this: FOXBORO, Mass. — Apparently New England Patriots rookie quarterback Jacoby Brissett had a solid week of practice before he was called into action Sunday against the Miami Dolphins. Brissett was named one of the Patriots’ practice players of the week for his work leading up to the team’s game against the Dolphins. Rookie linebacker Elandon Roberts and practice squad defensive tackle Woodrow Hamilton also earned the honor. It’s possible Brissett was named one of the Patriots’ practice players of the week for imitating Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill. The Patriots beat the Dolphins 31-24 in the Week 2 matchup. Brissett completed 6 of 9 passes for 92 yards in two-plus quarters under center. He could start the Patriots’ Week 3 matchup against the Houston
Tim Tebow Mets Jerseys Top MLB Sales On First Day; No Surprise There
Share this: Tim Tebow is wildly popular among Major League Baseball fans. Wait, what? Replica jerseys bearing the name and number of the famous New York Mets minor leaguer were the top-selling shirts on two prominent online retail platforms, according to ESPN’s Darren Rovell. This comes on the first day Tebow’s No. 15 Mets jersey and other merchandise went on sale to the public. “Based on jerseys sold Monday, Tebow’s was shown as the No. 1 best-seller on Fanatics and MLB’s online shop, ahead of stars such as David Ortiz and Kris Bryant,” Rovell writes. Big League teams don’t normally promote the images of minor league players, but a special agreement between Tebow and the jersey manufacturer exists to help break from
Here Are Five Players Who Influenced David Ortiz, As Explained By Big Papi
David Ortiz has been in the majors for 20 years. He has seen a lot of things and has come across a lot of people. Yet certain moments and certain peers stood out in the crowd, leaving behind lasting impressions that impacted the Boston Red Sox designated hitter’s career for the better. NESN’s Tom Caron recently sat down for an exclusive interview with Ortiz. The two discussed a whole bunch of topics, including those who helped shape Big Papi’s illustrious run in Major League Baseball. Several names were mentioned throughout the chat, but Ortiz’s relationships with a certain crop of former big leaguers were highlighted in NESN’s “David Ortiz: The J... NESN.com
Martellus Bennett’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ Intro Will Leave You Laughing
Share this: Martellus Bennett has a very unique personality. He put a tiny piece of that on display Sunday night. The New England Patriots tight end started in place of injured Rob Gronkowski, and because the Patriots were on national television against the Arizona Cardinals, Bennett got to do one of the quick video introductions where players give their name and alma mater on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” “Marty” gave us this. That wasn’t just a mumbled version of “Texas A&M,” where Bennett actually played his college ball. That was “The Imagination Agency.” We have no idea what that is, but we’re pretty sure Bennett is the best football player his “school” has ever produced.
