Marquez? Rossi? Suzuki? The land of the rising sun awaits…
While compiling some commentary notes ahead of Iannone’s expected return to action in the Far East this weekend, I wondered where he’d be in the standings had he not thrown away so many golden opportunities to score big points. He’s crashed out of five races this year and in three of those he was lying in second place. Had he got to the chequered flag in the position he jumped off in Qatar, Argentina, Le Mans, Barcelona and Silverstone, then he’d have picked up 83-points. It’s all could’ve, would’ve, should’ve, but you feel Iannone would still be in with an outside shout of the title himself had things panned out differently. Source link
Texas Upsets No. 10 Notre Dame On Tyrone Swoopes’ Amazing Double-OT Run
Share this: If anyone ever questions why you love college football, show them Sunday night’s game between No. 10 Notre Dame and unranked Texas. The Fighting Irish and Longhorns went back and forth for four quarters in Darrell K. Royal–Texas Memorial Stadium before Texas closed out a 50-47 double overtime victory. Texas scored a go-ahead touchdown late in the final frame and seemed to have the game in control. But a blocked PAT attempt that Notre Dame returned for two points tied the game at 37 and forced overtime, which was a treat unto itself. After both teams scored a touchdown and converted the extra point in the first OT period, Notre Dame managed just a field goal in the second overtime. That set
College Football Picks 2016: Predicting Heisman Trophy Finalists, Winner
Share this: Week 1 of the college football season kicks off this weekend, and the best players in the nation will begin building their Heisman Trophy cases. Finishing the seasons strong often makes a huge difference with Heisman voters — recency bias is a real thing. That said, getting off to a good start is important as well, especially against ranked non-conference opponents on national television. Here are our predictions for the 2016 Heisman Trophy finalists. 1. Deshaun Watson, QB, Clemson (Winner)Watson was incredible last season in leading the Tigers to within five points of a national title. He threw for 4,104 yards, 35 touchdowns and 13 interceptions. That’s amazing in its own right, but he also ran for 1,105 yards with 12 rushing touchdowns. If
U.S. basketball knocks off Spain to advance to gold-medal ga…
By BRIAN MAHONEY AP Basketball Writer RIO DE JANEIRO (AP) — Gone was the all-offense, all-action play that turned the last two gold-medal games into classics. To get by Spain again, the U.S. Olympic men’s basketball team would have to win ugly, so unusual it’s practically un-American. “It was just a real different game today,” coach Mike Krzyzewski said. Same result, though. The U.S. advanced to its third straight gold-medal game win an 82-76 victory Friday, another tight matchup between the teams that met in the last two championship games. Klay Thompson scored 22 points for the Americans, who will play Serbia on Sunday for their third consecutive Olympic title. Serbia beat Australia 87-61 in the second semifinal. “This is where we wanted to be,” Kevin Durant said.
