Fans Apparently Can Go ‘Glamping’ At Watkins Glen Starting In 2018

Racing often is thought of as a gritty sport, in which people aren’t afraid to get a little dirt under their fingers. But Watkins Glen International knows no two race fans are exactly alike. Watkins Glen announced Friday that starting this year it will offer fans a way to stay at the track during race weekends without actually having to rough it: “glamping.” The New York track will introduce “glamping” — short for glamorous camping — packages that come with a tent that includes a bed, or cot, and sitting area. The tents reportedly will be set up before you arrive, and will be located behind Riesbeck Grandstand near Turn 11. The... NESN.com

Folger will not race in 2018

“Last night (Tuesday) I received a call from Bob Moore, Jonas Folger’s personal manager,” explains Poncharal. “I couldn’t believe what Bob was telling me on the phone, that Jonas Folger has decided not to race the 2018 MotoGP season because he doesn’t feel 100 percent mentally and physically recovered. It is still very difficult for me to believe, that he’s not going to race with us in 2018, especially because he has been somebody I had lot of faith in and I was sure we would reach top level together this year. I completely respect his decision, although it’s hard to swallow. Yet, I will try to find a solution for a replacement rider, which is a very difficult mission,

Lorenzo: “The team and the bike are ready to win”

“2017 wasn’t easy for me, because I didn’t win a race,” says the Mallorcan of his switch to the Desmosedici, “and at the start of the season I couldn’t fight for the podium. But I was patient and I never gave up. I enjoyed constant, steady growth and we’re now ready for the 2018 season. We had better and better results throughout the year. Teamwork was very important and Ducati helped me a lot to adapt the bike to my riding style.” That’s borne out race by race, with better and better pace and positions for Lorenzo as he gained traction. Now, it’s time to look ahead once more. Source link

FIM Moto-e World Cup to race with Michelin

Pascal Couasnon, Motorsport Director at Michelin, says: "For as long as Michelin has existed, the projects in which it has been involved have sought to take mobility forward, while making it safer, more economical and more respectful of the planet. Progress needs all the stakeholders to innovate, not only on the technological front but also in terms of their vision. As motorcycle racing’s first all-electric competition, the FIM Moto-e World Cup’s creation by the FIM [Fédération Internationale de Motocyclisme] and Dorna Sports is a concrete, meaningful move in favour of mobility. For Michelin, it will provide us with an invaluable laboratory for the development of innovations that will go on to feature on our road tyres. We are consequently delighted to

MM93: “I’m trying to keep it ‘Marquez style’!”

“It’s good,” affirms the Repsol Honda rider. “It’s good to start the weekend with a good feeling with the bike, we did a lot of work for the race, with the tyres. We did a lot of laps to understand th bike balance. At the moment I’m trying to keep my style, Marquez style, and forget about the others. I didn’t care if someone was following me, I was working for my race and for my points.” On the crash, the number 93 laughed it off: “I had a small crash in the last lap of FP2, we can say it’s a normal crash or a standard crash!” Source link

Crutchlow: “This is what MotoGP is all about”

“It was a good race,” says Crutchlow. “Obviously I would have preferred to have repeated the performance from last year or be on the podium, but I felt good in the race. Not the best because I didn’t know if I was even going to race after a hard fall this morning. I didn’t feel great. Normally I’m the guy who will get up from a crash and I did that this morning, maybe I shouldn’t have!” Source link
