Chicago climate: Day of rain leaves Chicago River, roadways

An afternoon filled with showers and thunderstorms culminated in vital flooding Sunday night as rain overflowed the Chicago River and rendered some native roadways impassable. Nearly 3 inches of rain had fallen through 11 p.m. Sunday, and even though the worst of the storms have handed, a flood caution stays in impact till 1 p.m. Monday, the National Weather Service mentioned. “The water is only going to continue to rise even after the rain stops because the ground is so heavily saturated — the water has nowhere to go,” climate provider meteorologist Matt Friedlein mentioned. The Chicago River might be noticed spilling over its banks Sunday night, submerging the Riverwalk in some spots, and meteorologists be expecting the

Tom Brady Shares Poem, Photo With Rob Gronkowski In Latest Instagram Post

Tom Brady is feeling a little philosophical ahead of his ninth Super Bowl. The New England Patriots quarterback, who has become quite the active Instagram user, shared a pretty lengthy post Thursday night. And it wasn’t something he came up with, rather a poem. Brady’s post Thursday from Atlanta featured a photo of him and Rob Gronkowski, and had this Douglas Malloch poem for a caption. “’The tree that never had to fightFor sun and sky and air and light,But stood out in the open plainAnd always got its share of rain,Never became a forest kingBut lived and died a scr... Bagnaia and Canet fastest on Day 1 in Jerez

Bagnaia, who recently signed a deal to step-up to MotoGP™ with Alma Pramac Racing in 2019, topped the first Moto2™ session and was the only rider in the 1:42 bracket before the rain came down. When the intermediate class returned to the track in the afternoon, the 2017 Moto2™ Rookie of the Year went quicker still, making use of the resurfaced Jerez circuit to dip under the lap record and head the times from the impressive Iker Lecuona (Swiss Innovative Investors). The rain returned during the afternoon, preventing anyone from bettering their times. Source link

Riders talk rain, resurfacing and the Championship

One man who will certainly bring his best to the Sachsenring is the winner the last seven years he’s ridden it – Marc Marquez. From the 125 World Championship to MotoGP™, the Repsol Honda man has won every year from pole. Does that play a big role in his preparation? He says it helps, but that 2017 is still unpredictable: “Sachsenring has always been a good circuit for me and for Honda. That’s important, but this year is different. There’s a new surface so we need to see how the grip is, and the tyres. And the other thing here is the weather…last year was a flag-to-flag and then everything can change but arriving at a track where you’ve won

Marquez briefly dislocates shoulder in Jerez

After rain stopped play on the first day of a planned two day private test at the Circuito de Jerez for Repsol Honda Team's Marc Marquez and Dani Pedrosa, action got underway on Day 2 with an unwelcome outcome for the reigning Champion. Marquez, who has been in the top echelons of the timesheets throughout pre-season, crashed at Turn 7 and briefly dislocated his right shoulder. Medical checks show neither further damage nor any other injuries, and the rider from Cervera should be fit to finish preseason testing ahead of the first race of the season. Source link

Deutsche Bank Championship Notes: Hermine Impacts Play At TPC Boston

NORTON, Mass. — It wasn’t exactly hurricane-like conditions at TPC Boston, but it certainly wasn’t ideal weather for golf. The remnants of Hurricane Hermine didn’t bring any rain during Monday’s final round of the Deutsche Bank Championship, but a light rain probably would have been preferable for some golfers than the strong gusts of wind. “I thought it blew really hard,” Jimmy Walker (12-under-par) said. “It was very playable early and then it seemed like about No. 9 for us it really started to kick up. And then the back nine was pretty brutal.” He added: “(The wind was) swirling and heavy. It was heavy, heavy, really gusty.... NESN.com
