The New England Patriots suffered a scare late in Sunday’s game, but it appears some of the concern can be quelled. Wide receiver Julian Edelman went to the locker room with an ankle injury in the fourth quarter of the Pats’ 34-10 Week 10 loss at the hands of the Tennessee Titans. Seeing as Edelman missed all of last season with an ACL tear suffered during the preseason, an injury in that part of the body understandably aroused some concern. But according to ESPN NFL Insider Adam Schefter, Edelman’s injury “is not considered serious.” While the timing of an injury almost never is ideal, Edelman is fortunate in that the Patriots are

ESPN Rumors: Michael Smith To Leave ‘SC6’ On Friday After 13 Months On Flagship Show
Michael Smith is about to draw the curtain on his “Sportscenter” tenure. The host of ESPN’s 6 p.m. edition of “Sportcenter” will leave the show Friday, according to Sports Illustrated’s Richard Deitsch. Smith’s departure will follow that of Jemele Hill, who left “SC6” in January for a role with “The Undefeated,” an ESPN microsite that focuses on sports, race and culture, and other reporting assignments. Smith’s ESPN contract runs for “multiple” years, and he’ll reportedly craft another position for himself in the company in the coming months. NBA Rumors: Pelicans Trading Anthony Davis Is A ‘Pipe Dream,’ Exec Says
Do you believe in miracles? Well, that’s what it might take to pry Anthony Davis away from the New Orleans Pelicans. The Pelicans trading Davis before his contract expires in 2021 is “nothing more than a fantasy,” an NBA executive recently told The Ringer’s Kevin O’Connor. That’s disheartening news for teams like the Boston Celtics, who reportedly have tried to trade for the All-Star big man in the past. But that same executive believes it’s time for Boston to move on from the Davis “pipe dream.” “Even if AD, who can opt out of his current contract in 2020, was eventually made available, by that point, Boston may not even ... Four Million-Dollar Super Bowl Bets Reportedly Are Placed On Eagles
A quartet of Super Bowl gamblers are banking on the Philadelphia Eagles to upset the odds. Bettors have placed four million-dollar bets on the Eagles to defeat the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LII, according to ESPN’s David Purdum. Most sportsbooks in Las Vegas have installed the Eagles as six-point underdogs but many lines have shank to 4.5-point since then. Intrepid gamblers are looking to strike it rich on Philadelphia’s unexpected success. A bettor placed a $ 1 million money-line bet on the Eagles at William Hill on Friday. The bookmaker also took a $ 1.6 bet on Philadelphia earlier in the week. MGM in Las Vegas took multimillion-dollar... NESN.com
Fans Apparently Can Go ‘Glamping’ At Watkins Glen Starting In 2018
Racing often is thought of as a gritty sport, in which people aren’t afraid to get a little dirt under their fingers. But Watkins Glen International knows no two race fans are exactly alike. Watkins Glen announced Friday that starting this year it will offer fans a way to stay at the track during race weekends without actually having to rough it: “glamping.” The New York track will introduce “glamping” — short for glamorous camping — packages that come with a tent that includes a bed, or cot, and sitting area. The tents reportedly will be set up before you arrive, and will be located behind Riesbeck Grandstand near Turn 11. The... NESN.com
NBA Rumors: Clippers’ DeAndre Jordan Wants To Be Traded To Rockets
It appears DeAndre Jordan might miss one of his old teammates. Jordan is expected to be one of the most prominent trade options come the Feb. 8 deadline. The Cleveland Cavaliers and Milwaukee Bucks have been rumored to be possible destinations for Jordan, but the Los Angeles Clippers center reportedly is eyeing a team in the Western Conference. During Tuesday’s edition of “First Take” on ESPN, Stephen A. Smith gave his two cents on Monday night’s melee between the Clippers and Houston Rockets, which might have centered around Chris Paul. The star point guard, who was traded to Houston in the offseason, reportedly wasn’t very well-liked by ... NESN.com
MLB Rumors: Yankees Still Eyeing Manny Machado, Recently Contacted Orioles
The New York Yankees already made the offseason’s biggest splash, and they’re reportedly considering another move that might blow the competition out of the water. Fanrag Sports’ Jon Heyman reported Friday, citing sources, that the Yankees again contacted the Baltimore Orioles about third baseman Manny Machado. Heyman did indicate a deal — at least at this time — “seems less than great,” but he also pointed out the Yankees might have the best chance to land the superstar third baseman from the O’s. As Heyman points out, the Yankees have been able to shed some burdensome payroll in the last year or so — despite acquiring Gianca... NESN.com
