Rick Porcello gave up just one earned run over six innings against the New York Yankees on Sunday to pick up his fourth straight win. But the Boston Red Sox starter gave plenty of praise to his offense after the game. Rick Porcello tossed six strong innings in the Boston Red Sox’s 8-2 win over the Tampa Bay Rays on Wednesday, but the fifth frame undoubtedly was his best. The right-hander made extremely quick work of the Rays in the inning, as he struck out the side in order on just nine pitches to complete one of baseball’s most exciting feats, the immaculate inning. Porcello’s accomplishment wasn’t lost on anyone in Tropicana Field, except for himself. Rick Porcello experienced some ups and downs in his surprising start Friday night. Porcello, who took the mound after David Price went on the disabled list, lasted seven innings, but he allowed four earned runs on two home runs in the Boston Red Sox’s 4-2 loss to the Kansas City Royals at Fenway Park.
