Share this: BOSTON — It doesn’t get much more exciting than meaningful September baseball. The Red Sox finished out a four-game sweep of the New York Yankees on Sunday night despite a rough outing from starter Drew Pomeranz. The lefty put Boston in a four-run hole, but Hanley Ramirez did most of the work after that, crushing two homers to eventually give the Red Sox a 5-4 come-from-behind win. Here’s how it all went down. GAME IN A WORDHanley. When you score most of your team’s runs with two homers, you get to be the word of the game. IT WAS OVER WHEN …Koji Uehara finished out the ninth. DraftKings: Travis Shaw, Madison Bumgarner Among Tom Caron’s Picks
Travis Shaw has seen a resurgence at the plate lately, and so he’s seeing a resurgence in DraftKings daily fantasy baseball lineups as well. Red Sox Wrap: Drew Pomeranz Roughed Up Early In 6-3 Loss To Orioles
BOSTON — There were more home runs to be had at Fenway Park on Tuesday, but this time, the visitors did most of the heavy lifting. The Baltimore Orioles jumped out to a five-run lead thanks to a pair of home runs off Red Sox starter Drew Pomeranz and hit a third homer for good measure to hand Boston a 6-3 loss, evening the teams’ three-game series at one game apiece. The Toronto Blue Jays also lost Tuesday, meaning the Red Sox still own a two-game lead over Toronto and Baltimore in the American League East. Here’s how this one went down. Red Sox Wrap: Rick Porcello Earns 20th Win In 13-3 Rout Of Blue Jays
Share this: The Boston Red Sox have a very important stretch run in front of them, but they certainly got out on the right foot Friday night. The Red Sox left little doubt in their series opener against the Toronto Blue Jays at Rogers Centre, bashing 18 hits en route to a 13-3 blowout win. Rick Porcello also did his job on the mound, earning his Major League Baseball-best 20th win to help the Red Sox take a two-game lead over the Jays in the American League East. Here’s how this one went down. GAME IN A WORDRelentless. Boston’s offense scored in six different innings and Porcello delivered another strong outing as the Red Sox rolled over a Blue Jays team that looked a bit out of sorts
Mookie Betts Joins Red Sox Teammate David Ortiz In 30 Home Run, 100 RBI Club
Share this: Mookie Betts keeps making his case for American League MVP stronger. The Boston Red Sox right fielder has been having a great season at the plate, and he emphasized that by collecting his 99th and 100th RBIs with a first-inning double against the Oakland Athletics on Saturday. The milestone means Betts hit the 30 home run, 100 RBI mark this season — he had exactly 30 homers going into Saturday’s game — and he’s only 23 years old. Betts is the third Red Sox player to get 30 home runs and 100 RBIs before the age of 25, joining Jim Rice and Ted Williams (who did it three times). He’s also the second Boston player to do it this season after David
Mookie Betts, Hanley Ramirez Hit Back-To-Back Homers Onto Green Monster
Share this: BOSTON — The Red Sox’s offense showed up to play Saturday night. After putting up 15 hits with just three runs in a 6-3 loss to Kansas City on Friday, Boston’s batters came roaring back for their middle game against the Royals. Xander Bogaerts started things off with a huge two-run shot in the first inning, and Mookie Betts and Ramirez joined the party in the fifth inning with back-to-back solo home runs. Before Saturday’s game, Royals starter Danny Duffy had a 1.18 ERA in August, hadn’t given up more than three runs since July 16 and hadn’t lost since June 6. The Red Sox certainly changed that by tagging him for seven runs through five innings. Betts’ home run was his 29th of
Red Sox Notes: David Ortiz, Jackie Bradley Jr. Lead Boston To Fourth Straight Wi…
Share this: Even when David Ortiz is slumping, he still finds ways to come up big for Boston. The Red Sox slugger was batting just .216 in August heading into Monday’s game against the Cleveland Indians and was obviously frustrated after his first two at-bats, during which he popped out and grounded into a double play. But Ortiz turned that all around in the sixth inning by hitting a monster 442-foot homer to put two runs on the board and give the Red Sox the lead. Jackie Bradley Jr. followed that up with a solo shot two batters later, and those three runs wound up being all the Red Sox needed to give starter Drew Pomeranz his first win with Boston. It also
