Red Sox Notes: Rick Porcello Is ‘Back In Control’ Despite Loss Vs. Yankees

Boston Red Sox starter Rick Porcello is one loss away from matching his season total from 2016. The 2016 American League Cy Young winner took another tough-luck loss Wednesday night against the New York Yankees. Porcello allowed three runs (two earned) on five hits in 6 2/3 innings. He also struck out nine batters and notched a career-high 20 swings-and-misses. A common theme over the first month for Porcello has been shaky defense behind him and a lack of run support. Another unearned run Wednesday for Porcello gives him five so far on the young season, which is tied for the most in the major leagues. But, despite the right-hander’s 1-3... NESN.com

Share this: BOSTON — Tuesday was the Bruins’ break-up day, also known as the day we learn of the gnarly injuries they played through over the course of the season. There were no revelations to the extent of San Jose Sharks center Joe Thornton’s knee injury, but a handful of Bruins certainly played hurt at times during the season. Sharks’ Joe Thornton Played With Torn ACL, MCL In NHL Playoffs

Chris Sale Earns Pedro Martinez’s Admiration After Best Red Sox Start Yet

Share this: Chris Sale’s bar was set incredibly high when he joined the Boston Red Sox this offseason. Somehow, the left-handed ace has raised it. Sale pitched his best outing in a season full of stellar ones Thursday at Rogers Centre, baffling the Toronto Blue Jays to the tune of 13 strikeouts and zero earned runs over eight innings in Boston’s 4-1, extra-innings win. He threw 80 of his 102 pitches for strikes, a remarkable feat when you consider there have been 65 starts already this season in which a pitcher has thrown fewer than 80 pitches total. Sale looked downright unhittable throughout most of his outing, attacking the strike zone with a lethal three-pitch mix while working quickly to keep Toronto’s batters off-balance. And if

#AmericasGP: Michelin preview

Piero Taramasso, Manager of the Two-Wheel Motorsport Group: “COTA is another very demanding circuit and features many changes of direction, slow turns, fast bends and a long straight. There are also hard braking areas and all this together makes for a big challenge for a tyre to cope with. The riders are always demanding the very best and that is always our target- to be able to give the optimum tyre for all riders and bikes to use. We were unable to produce the very good performance that we had hoped for in 2016, but this season we are going there fully prepared – thanks to data we got after last year’s race – and with a range of rubber

Bayern’s Lahm hoping to head out on a high

At 33, Philipp Lahm has confirmed that this season will be his last; UEFA.com spoke to the Bayern captain about his glory days – and triumphs hopefully yet to come, despite a 2-1 home defeat by Real Madrid in last week's quarter-final first leg.Why did you decide this summer was the right time to call an end to your career? Philipp Lahm: I felt I can only play at my current level until the end of the season, and not beyond. Everything's getting a bit harder for me; training is harder and you get a bit more annoyed in training. And that's
