The Celtics received some much-needed good news Sunday afternoon. After Boston blew a 28-point lead to lose to the Los Angeles Clippers on Saturday night at TD Garden, it feared Kyrie Irving also might miss an extended period of time. The star guard suffered a right knee sprain in the second quarter of Saturday’s loss. Head coach Brad Stevens said he “didn’t know anything about it” after the loss. But now we have a little more insight to just how serious (or not) the injury to Irving really is.

Charlie McAvoy Injury Update: Bruins D-Man Out At Least Four Weeks With MCL Sprain
The Boston Bruins, already without Patrice Bergeron for the foreseeable future, will also be without Charlie McAvoy for at least a month. The team announced Tuesday that McAvoy suffered a left MCL sprain in Saturday’s win over the Montreal Canadiens, and he will be reevaluated in four weeks. McAvoy suffered the injury in the first period of the Bruins’ eventual overtime win. He appeared to twist it retrieving a puck in his own end and skated gingerly off the ice. Jones injured his ankle during the first half of the Cowboys loss to the Patiots on Sunday and could miss substantial time, according to a report on NFL.com.
