Phil Kessel’s Grandmother Can Party, Chugs Champagne From Stanley Cup

Phil Kessel’s grandmother should immediately vault to the top of every single guest list. Kessel brought the Stanley Cup to his hometown of Madison, Wisc., last weekend, at which point the Pittsburgh Penguins winger celebrated with family and friends. Granny Kessel stole the show, however, by chugging champagne from Lord Stanley. There’s just so much awesomeness in the video above, which Kessel’s aunt posted to Instagram. Not only was Kessel’s grandmother so nonchalant while drinking from the most coveted trophy in sports, but she also capped her party antics with a “no big deal” hand gesture. Rock on, Granny. Sharks Down Penguins After Wild First Period In Stanley Cup Final Game 5

If you missed the first period of the Stanley Cup Final Game 5 on Thursday night, boy, did you miss a lot. The San Jose Sharks held on to win a thriller, 4-2, after a wild first period that saw the game’s first five goals. San Jose got right to business in Pittsburgh when Brent Burns scored just 1:04 into the period. That wasn’t all the Sharks had up their sleeves, though. But if you thought the Penguins — who lead the series three games to one — would go down without a fight, you’re sadly mistaken.

But any chance at a San Jose comeback was wiped away when Eric Fehr scored with just over two minutes remaining. The Penguins now can clinch the Stanley Cup on home ice with

Fittingly, he also took it to Children's Hospital, where he helped brighten the days of perhaps the only people better at fighting than Thornton. He then even got some time in atop the Green Monster at Fenway Park with the Cup. See more from Thornton's day with the Stanley Cup in the video above from NESN Daily.
