What Injuries To Rob Gronkowski, Patriots Linemen Mean For Jimmy Garoppolo

by Zack Cox on Fri, Sep 9, 2016 at 10:09PM 1,786 Share this: Jimmy Garoppolo’s first true NFL test just got a whole lot more difficult. The New England Patriots quarterback, who’s set to start the first regular-season game of his career Sunday night against the Arizona Cardinals, now will be forced to do so without his starting left tackle (Nate Solder), a player who likely would have started at right guard if healthy (Jonathan Cooper) and arguably the league’s most dangerous offensive threat (Rob Gronkowski). Solder, Cooper and Gronkowski all officially have been ruled out for Sunday’s season opener, further hamstringing a Patriots offense that already was without suspended superstar signal-caller Tom Brady. How will these developments change New England’s game plan against an Arizona defense

Red Sox Notes: Missed Scoring Opportunities Doom Boston In Loss To A’s

Share this: The Red Sox and Oakland Athletics both were scoreless through eight innings Sunday, but the Red Sox didn’t have the excuse of being no-hit. Eduardo Rodriguez pitched a phenomenal game in the Red Sox’s series finale against the A’s, holding them to one hit over eight strong innings. Boston put hits on the board as the lefty spun a gem, but as has been the case in many close games this season, the Red Sox couldn’t translate them into runs in their 1-0 loss. The popular opinion might be to blame closer Craig Kimbrel, who walked Danny Valencia and gave up a double to Khris Davis to start and end the bottom of the ninth inning. But an error by Brock Holt

Patriots-Bears Takeaways: Rookie Guard Joe Thuney Erases Pass Rushers

Jimmy Garoppolo completed 16 of 21 passes for 181 yards with one touchdown, and he received a lot of help from his offensive line, most notably third-round pick Joe Thuney. The Patriots’ defense let up a 34-yard run to Jeremy Langford on a nice play fake by Cutler, who handed the ball off but rolled out of the pocket like it was a bootleg pass. Langford ran the ball in for a 5-yard touchdown, then the Patriots let up a two-point conversion. First quarter, 7:43, Bears 3-0: The Patriots went three and out after two carries by LeGarrette Blount and a drop by Aaron Dobson. Red Sox’s Pitching Rotation Off To Strong Statistical Start In August

Share this: It’s been an up-and-down season for some of the Red Sox’s starting rotation, but August has been mostly ups for Boston’s starters. The Red Sox’s rotation has a 5-3 record with a 2.69 ERA in 97 innings this month, and David Price will look to improve those numbers even more when he takes the mound against the Baltimore Orioles on Wednesday. Hear what NESN’s Dave O’Brien and Dennis Eckersley had to say about Boston’s rotation in the video from “Red Sox Gameday Live” above.
