Derby delight for Fenerbahçe and St-Étienne
Fenerbahçe and St-Étienne grabbed the spoils on a weekend of high-profile derbies against fellow UEFA Europa League hopefuls, and there were smiles too for a Manchester United team back on track. The Turkish Cup round of 16 brought a pair of UEFA Europa League sides together in Beşiktaş and Fenerbahçe, and it was Fener who got the better of their Istanbul neighbours thanks to Robin van Persie's decider in a 1-0 victory. A place in the last eight proved beyond Osmanlıspor, on the other hand, as they succumbed to Kasımpaşa after extra time.
Pedrosa gets first taste of new Sepang asphalt
Dani Pedrosa (Repsol Honda Team) got his first contact with the new asphalt, run-offs and cambering at Sepang International Circuit on Day 1o of 2017 testing, after the Spaniard missed the race at the track last season due to a crash in the Japanese GP ahead of the event. The most successful rider at Sepang, three-time World Champion Pedrosa used day one to familiarise himself with his surroundings after the long winter break, and concentrated on one engine configuration – as did his teammate, Marc Marquez. Some Of World’s Smartest Students Tested Pods On SpaceX Hyperloop Track
And you thought your eighth-grade science fair went well. Well, maybe it did. But chances are it wasn’t as cool testing Hyperloop Pods on a test track at SpaceX headquarters. The three teams emerged from a field of 30 that recently competed for the chance to try their pods on the mile-long track. Aragon: Marquez reigns, Lorenzo gains
Although it hadn’t seemed like it, the controlled exterior of Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) was taking some effort – with MotorLand Aragon proving the mental oasis after a long run of races with no dry win. Knowing he had the pace and that the track was perfectly suited to him, Marquez even said in the pre-event Press Conference that MotorLand was a track on which he would attack, and attack he did. Sachsenring: Game, set, slicks
Marc Marquez (Repsol Honda Team) likes dirt track – a fact often mentioned when his record at counter-clockwise tracks is examined. At the Sachsenring, the 5-time World Champion hasn’t been defeated since 2010. This season saw that record remain, despite the best efforts of the weather – and Marquez pulled off one of the bravest wins of the year. On a single dry line on the track, the Spaniard gambled on a switch to slicks and kept it inch-perfect as he reeled off a string of ever-faster laps. Cal Crutchlow (LCR Honda) and Andrea Dovizioso (Ducati Team) completed the podium, with the German GP proving a turnaround of sorts for both after some difficult races over the first half of
Marquez: “Very long day!”
Marc Marquez (P4): “It has been a very long test day, because when the bikes are new, it takes a lot of time to make changes and get back out on track. We only did one stint with the bike we used in the Grand Prix, to see what condition the track was in, and then we started to work on the new bike. As a rider, it's a bit boring because I had to wait a long time in the garage because with everything being new the engineers have to adjust a lot of things along the way, but finally we were able to try several solutions. Let's see if tomorrow we can continue improving and make the most
