Share this: The Boston Red Sox have traded Clay Buchholz. For some Red Sox fans, those eight words are cause for celebration. Despite his occasional brilliance, Buchholz long had been a source of frustration in Boston. After a scintillating start to the 2013 season — 7-2 record, 1.71 ERA in 12 starts — the right-hander missed three months with a neck strain, then saw his performance dip over a three-year stretch marred by injuries and inconsistency that saw him fall out of the rotation in 2016. That leads us to Tuesday, when the Red Sox traded their second longest-tenured player to the Philadelphia Phillies in return for a minor league second baseman. The move essentially was a salary dump, and one that Red Sox president

Share this: Jordan Reed had to hit the showers early on Monday night. Late in the third quarter of the Washington Redskins vs. Carolina Panthers game, Reed got tangled up with Panthers safety Kurt Coleman. Boston Bruins Power Play Struggling To Cash In On Scoring Opportunities
Share this: The Boston Bruins rank 27th out of 30 NHL teams in goals scored per game. One reason for that lack of scoring is Boston’s power play having the third-worst success rate in the league at just 13.1 percent. Injuries have played a part in these power-play struggles, but the Bruins also need to do a better job of cashing in on their opportunities with the man advantage. Check out Billy Jaffe’s analysis of the Bruins’ power play in the “NESN Sports Today” video above, presented by People’s United Bank. More Stories Source link
Tom Brady Explains Special Bond He Shares With Rival Peyton Manning
Share this: Tom Brady and Peyton Manning battled on the field for more than a decade, but despite the rivalry, the two remain close friends. In his weekly Monday night interview with Jim Gray on Westwood One Radio, Brady explained how the two legendary quarterbacks are able to put their on-the-field history aside and maintain a friendship. “He wanted to beat the heck out of me as Tom Brady the football player and that’s very different as Tom Brady the person,” Brady told Gray. “When you’re wearing that opposing jersey, it’s just the way it goes. But postgame, and when you’re not wearing that jersey, it’s a whole different set of circumstances. It’s nice to have someone that can relate to a lot of similar
Texans Owner Backs ‘Gutsy’ Call To Bench Brock Osweiler For Tom Savage
Share this: A quarterback change won’t generate controversy in the owner’s box at NRG Stadium. Houston Texans owner Bob McNair praised head coach Bill O’Brien on Sunday for benching struggling quarterback Brock Osweiler, according to The Houston Chronicle’s Aaron Wilson. Backup Tom Savage led the Texans to a comeback 21-20 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars, and McNair said the quarterback switch was the right move. “I’m just glad I wasn’t the one that had to make that decision,” McNair said. “I mean, that was a gutsy call. Give coach credit, he made a change and it was for the good of the team. We benefited from it. Now we have three good quarterbacks and we are proud of all of them.” McNair’s Texans gave Osweiler
Blake Griffin Injury: Clippers’ All-Star Forward To Have Knee Surgery
Share this: Another season, another Blake Griffin injury. The Los Angeles Clippers’ All-Star power forward will undergo “minor surgery” on his sore right knee, league sources told The Vertical’s Shams Charania, who added that Griffin is expected back in the lineup “at some point” in January. Griffin previously missed a game earlier this month due to soreness in the same knee. The procedure was described to Charania as a “cleanup” by league sources. The Orange County Register’s Dan Woike confirmed Charania’s report and clarified some details on both the procedure and Griffin’s timetable to return. Here’s Why A Nerlens Noel-To-Celtics Trade Makes Sense For Boston, 76ers
Share this: ‘Tis the season for NBA trade rumors, and you can add Nerlens Noel to the wish list. The Philadelphia 76ers big man has become the league’s trade target de jour, and with good reason. After missing the first two-plus months of the season due to a knee injury, Noel returned last week only to find himself the odd man out in Philly’s crowded frontcourt. That led to Noel’s postgame rant after playing just eight minutes Friday, which led to head coach Brett Brown removing him from the Sixers’ rotation completely. With both Jahlil Okafor and Joel Embiid ahead of him on the depth chart, it sure looks like Noel won’t be in Philly much longer. So, to which team can the 22-year-old
