Rangers Prospects Reportedly Sexually Assaulted Underage Teammate

Share this: Four Texas Rangers prospects reportedly could face charges for allegedly sexually hazing an underage teammate at the team’s Dominican complex, sources have told Yahoo Sports’ Jeff Passan. Eight prospects in total were questioned by police earlier this month, according to Yahoo Sports, after a Snapchat video of the alleged incident, which involved forcibly masturbating the underage prospect, surfaced. Sources also told Yahoo Sports of other alleged hazing incidents against Venezuelan and Colombian players. The video was obtained by Yahoo Sports, and you can read Passan’s description of it in the paragraph below. “Video of the alleged assault, which took place toward the end of October, was captured and posted on Snapchat, according to sources. A 10-second clip of video, obtained by Yahoo Sports, shows the

Cubs, Simone Biles Among SI’s 2016 Sportsperson Of The Year Contenders

Share this: It’s been one heck of a year in sports, to say the least. We had the 2016 Summer Olympics, the Chicago Cubs winning the World Series for the first time since 1908, Cleveland finally winning a title again thanks to the Cavaliers, Peyton Manning riding off into the sunset with a Super Bowl title and much, much more. So it must have been a pretty difficult task for Sports Illustrated to come up with just 12 contenders for its annual Sportsperson of the Year award, which was given to women’s tennis star Serena Williams in 2015. Five athletes who starred in the 2016 Rio Olympics are contenders, including Michael Phelps (men’s swimming), Katie Ledecky (women’s swimming), Simone Biles (women’s gymnastics), Usain Bolt (track

Matt Calvert Gets 36 Stitches, Later Scores Game-Winner For Blue Jackets

Share this: Hockey players often are labeled as the toughest athletes in sports, and Columbus Blue Jackets forward Matt Calvert did his best to prove that to be true in Friday’s game against the New York Rangers. It started with a blocked shot in the second period that swept him off his feet. The puck hit Calvert in the face, opening his face like a faucet and leaving a pool of blood on the ice. The wound required 36 stitches. [embedded content] He returned to the game (because he’s a hockey player) and remarkably scored scored the eventual game-winning goal for the Blue Jackets in the third period. Gio Bernard Injury: Bengals Running Back Reportedly Tore ACL In Week 11

Share this: The Cincinnati Bengals lost 16-12 to the Buffalo Bills on Sunday, but that might be the least of their concerns. They lost superstar wide receiver A.J. Green to a hamstring injury that reportedly includes a significant tear, and they’ll also be without running back Gio Bernard after he tore his ACL, per NFL Media’s Ian Rapoport. It goes without saying that Bengals quarterback Andy Dalton must find some new targets after these injuries, both of which could be crippling blows. So the Bengals lost AJ Green and Gio Bernard. That's 45% of their targets this season. Wow. — Mike Clay (@MikeClayNFL) November 21, 2016 Bernard rushed for 318 yards and two touchdowns through nine games, but his real impact came in the passing attack, where he tallied

Report: Texas To Fire Charlie Strong As Football Coach Amid Dismal Season

Share this: Charlie Strong’s tenure as the head football coach at Texas is coming to a close. Multiple outlets reported Sunday that the Longhorns will fire Strong, adding another low point in what has been a horrendous 2016 season for the school’s football program. Texas is 5-6 after losing to lowly Kansas on Saturday. When exactly Strong will be fired is unknown at this time. It’s entirely possible Strong either is fired or steps down after next Saturday’s regular-season finale against TCU. Texas needs to win that game to become bowl eligible, but there are plenty of examples of programs firing their coaches after the regular season but before their bowl game. The university has not confirmed the rumors, but athletic director Mike Perrin did address

Tom Brady Notches 199th Career Win, Ties Brett Favre For Second All Time

by Zack Cox on Sun, Nov 20, 2016 at 8:08PM 2,540 Share this: Only one quarterback in the history of the NFL has won more games than Tom Brady. And Brady could pass him early next month. The New England Patriots’ 30-17 win over the San Francisco 49ers on Sunday was the 199th of Brady’s career, moving him into a tie with Hall of Famer Brett Favre for second in NFL history. Only Peyton Manning (200) has more. Brady, whose first victory came Sept. 30, 2001, was at his very best in win No. 199, shredding his hometown 49ers for four interceptions without turning the ball over. It was the 21st four-plus-touchdown, zero-interception game of Brady’s career, extending his own NFL record. The Patriots led just

Matthew Slater Leaves Patriots-49ers Game With Foot Injury, Seen In Walking Boot

by Zack Cox on Sun, Nov 20, 2016 at 8:35PM 1,579 Share this: The New England Patriots already were down one captain entering Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. They lost another during the third quarter. Patriots special teams ace Matthew Slater left the game — which New England won 30-17 — and did not return after suffering a foot injury while covering a punt. He was spotted after the game wearing a walking boot and using crutches, according to reporters on the scene at Levi’s Stadium. Patriots coach Bill Belichick declined to give an update on Slater’s condition during his postgame news conference, saying the team will release its injury report on Wednesday, as usual. Slater is one of the NFL’s best special teams
