Yoan Moncada Impressing Xander Bogaerts, Red Sox With Strong Arm At Third Base
Share this: Saturday was a special night for Yoan Moncada at the plate, but he brings more to the table than just his bat. The 21-year-old third baseman recorded his first major league hit, an RBI double, in just his second game since the Boston Red Sox called him up from Double-A Portland. Moncada also held his own on defense in his first big league start, though, and his throwing arm left an impression on fellow infielder Xander Bogaerts during Boston’s blowout win. No. 1 Alabama leads No. 20 USC 17-3 at the half, but the main news coming out of the first 30 minutes was a low blow by the Trojans’ Jabari Ruffin to Minkah Fitzpatrick. USC’s Adoree Jackson tried to help Fitzpatrick, who was lying on the ground, back up, but Ruffin got in the way and stomped on his crotch. That play obviously led to an ejection. Maye, tight end Nic Jacobs, offensive tackle Clay DeBord and defensive back Tyler Patmon, a source told NESN.com. The receivers likely will be of most interest to Patriots fans, since New England kept just four players on their 53-man roster. Mathews went undrafted out of BYU and spent the summer with the Kansas City Chiefs. The milestone means Betts hit the 30 home run, 100 RBI mark this season — he had exactly 30 homers going into Saturday’s game — and he’s only 23 years old.
