The Bruins had their chances against the Capitals on Tuesday night, but Washington goalie Braden Holtby came up with multiple timely saves to stymie Boston. Holtby finished with 22 saves in the Capital’s 3-2 win over the Bruins, but it could have been a different game if Holtby didn’t kick a puck out of danger early on. No. 1 Kansas Basketball Survives Triple-OT Scare From No. 2 Oklahoma
The No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks won the battle of the Big 12 on Monday and stayed atop the mountaintop, handing conference rival No. 2 Oklahoma its first loss of the season in a thrilling 109-106 triple-overtime game. Sooners senior guard Buddy Hield scored a game-high 46 points, tied for the most points by a visiting Kansas opponent ever. Teammate Jordan Woodward also was a menace, racking up 27 points before fouling out of the game in the third overtime. Kansas senior forward Perry Ellis was masterful for the Jayhawks, dropping 27 points and pulling in 13 rebounds, while guard Wayne Selden Jr. added 21 points. Kansas and Oklahoma rose to Nos. 1 and
Report: Tom Brady Suffered Sprained Ankle, Expected To Be Ready For Playoffs
Tom Brady’s ankle injury seems to be a classic case of “It looked a lot worse than it was.” The New England Patriots quarterback was hobbled Sunday after having his right ankle rolled under Miami Dolphins defensive lineman Ndamukong Suh, but the injury isn’t serious. ESPN’s Adam Schefter reported Monday that an MRI revealed Brady suffered a sprained ankle but there were no breaks or fractures. According to Schefter, Brady should be good to go when the Patriots begin their playoffs schedule on Jan. 16 in the AFC divisional round. Brady, who was seen limping after the Patriots’ loss in Miami, told reporters in his postgame news conference t...
O.J. Mayo Gets Ejected, Goes After Official During Bucks-Timberwolves Game (Video)
O.J. Mayo didn’t see the end of Saturday’s Milwaukee Bucks-Minnesota Timberwolves game, and he might not see the floor again for a while following his post-ejection actions. The Bucks guard received a technical foul after he lobbied a bit too hard for a foul call on Karl-Anthony Towns. He didn’t stop arguing with an official, which led to him getting ejected from the game. Instead of heading back to the locker room, though, Mayo had to be restrained when he tried to go after the official. This is not a good look for the NBA veteran, and more penalties probably are on their way. Thumbnail photo via Kirby Lee/USA TODAY Sports Image...
Report: People Around NBA Believe Kevin Durant Could Sign With Warriors
Would Kevin Durant trade in his blue and orange for blue and gold? Apparently some people around the NBA believe the Oklahoma City Thunder’s impending free agent could depart to sign with reigning MVP Stephen Curry and the defending NBA champion Golden State Warriors this summer, according to ESPN’s Chris Broussard. Broussard warns that everything is speculative and that nothing is leaking out of Durant’s camp, but rather that people around the league wouldn’t be shocked to see it happen — though the general public might be. Financially, Pro Basketball Talk’s Dan Feldman lays out the basics of how it could work, and it’s really not ...
Danny Amendola Loved Playing With Steven Jackson: He’s ‘A Good Teammate’
FOXBORO, Mass. — News of Steven Jackson’s reported meeting with the Patriots on Wednesday was circling all throughout New England, and the team’s locker room was no exception. “I don’t know that we signed him,” Patriots wide receiver Danny Amendola said. “I don’t know what the deal is. Apparently he’s still on the streets.” Well, wherever he is, apparently he is one step closer to providing the Patriots with some much needed depth at running back. And if his meeting leads to an eventual contract with New England, he has a familiar face in Amendola to rely on. Amendola and Jackson played together for four years with the...
Jose Aldo Probably Not Getting Rematch With Conor McGregor Any Time Soon
One way or another, it doesn’t look like Jose Aldo is getting another crack at Conor McGregor any time soon. The former UFC feathweight champion was defeated via knockout after just 13 seconds at UFC 194 Saturday night, a loss that made McGregor the undisputed unified UFC featherweight champion. Despite the outcome, Aldo was a worthy opponent. The 29-year-old was the only champion the division had ever had, and his last loss came over 10 years ago. So, he’d have to get a rematch with McGregor … right? There appear to be at least a few obstacles in his way. First and foremost is the question of whether McGregor is remaining in the divisio...
