Man arrested after Aurora chase, hit with gun cost


An Aurora man was arrested Thursday after he allegedly ran from police who noticed him disguise a gun behind a storage.

Erik Lopez-Perez, 20, was charged with felony counts of aggravated illegal use of a weapon by a gang member and possession of a weapon and not using a FOID, Aurora police stated.

According to police, Lopez-Perez was strolling with a gaggle about 4:15 p.m. Thursday when he noticed police and ducked behind a storage within the 300 block of State Street.

After coming again exterior, Lopez-Perez ran from officers, who caught as much as him a short time later, police stated.

After being detained, Lopez-Perez allegedly admitted to hiding a pistol behind the storage, the place officers later discovered a loaded handgun, police stated.

Lopez-Perez is awaiting arraignment at Kane County Jail.
