What To Know About Jacoby Brissett, Patriots’ Potential Week 3 QB

Share this: The New England Patriots still don’t have a quarterback controversy, but they are left with a quarterback conundrum after Jimmy Garoppolo injured his throwing shoulder Sunday. Reports vary on how long Garoppolo will be out and whether he’ll be able to suit up or play in Week 3 against the Houston Texans. If Garoppolo can’t start, rookie Jacoby Brissett will take his place, as he did in the Patriots’ 31-24 Week 2 win over the Miami Dolphins. So, what should you know about Brissett? — The 6-foot-4, 235-pound quarterback was selected by the Patriots out of North Carolina State with the 91st overall pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. It took him a while to sign his rookie contract because he represents himself. —

Martellus Bennett’s ‘Sunday Night Football’ Intro Will Leave You Laughing

Share this: Martellus Bennett has a very unique personality. He put a tiny piece of that on display Sunday night. The New England Patriots tight end started in place of injured Rob Gronkowski, and because the Patriots were on national television against the Arizona Cardinals, Bennett got to do one of the quick video introductions where players give their name and alma mater on NBC’s “Sunday Night Football.” “Marty” gave us this. That wasn’t just a mumbled version of “Texas A&M,” where Bennett actually played his college ball. That was “The Imagination Agency.” We have no idea what that is, but we’re pretty sure Bennett is the best football player his “school” has ever produced. Swinging For The Fences: What Tim Tebow’s Baseball Past Says About MLB Hopes

Share this: Tim Tebow has been aiming high his entire life. But this might be his most ambitious goal yet. The 29-year-old will take the field on Aug. 30 not as a quarterback but as a baseball player, holding a workout for reportedly more than 20 Major League Baseball teams — including the Boston Red Sox — in an attempt to kick-start a career on the diamond. It’s a dramatic career turn for a former Heisman Trophy winner; one of the best players in college football history who flamed out after fewer than five seasons in the NFL. But the obvious question remains: Can he do any better on the baseball field? Tebow’s baseball résumé is brief: He played just two seasons of high school ball from 2004 to 2005

Boston College Retires Pete Frates’ Number At ALS Awareness Game

Pete Frates’ No. 3 officially was retired by the Boston College baseball program at Pellagrini Diamond at Shea Field on Saturday. Frates, who was diagnosed with Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis in 2012, was there as the Eagles honored their former captain and current director of baseball operations. “This is such a huge thing for our family,” Frates’ wife, Julie Frates, told NESN’s Sarah Davis on Saturday. “This is a legacy for Pete and our family. So we couldn’t be more happy and thrilled for him. And at least he’s here to witness it all.” BC came back to win the game against Wake Forest 9-8, and they swept the doubleheader lat...
