Share this: The racing community continues to grieve following the untimely death of eight-time USAC champion Bryan Clauson, but his family can take solace in knowing how he helped save lives. Clauson died Sunday night following a crash in Saturday’s Belleville Midget Nationals, but in many ways his spirit lives on. The 27-year-old was an organ donor, ultimately helping save five lives, according to a family statement released via Twitter on Wednesday. Share this: Drew Pomeranz was by no means lights out Wednesday against the New York Yankees, but he did have one of his better outings in a Boston Red Sox uniform. Pomeranz lasted 5 1/3 innings in Wednesday’s 9-4 loss to the New York Yankees at Fenway Park, but the Boston Red Sox left-hander only allowed one earned run on six hits with five strikeouts. However, the bullpen had to pick up the workload from there, and things didn’t go well for Matt Barnes, Fernando Abad, Junichi Tazawa, Robbie Ross Jr. and Co. The U.S. gymnast was criticized Tuesday for how she stood on the podium during the national anthem at the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. While her teammates stood with their hands on their hearts during the anthem, Douglas stood with her hands at her side, prompting accusations of “disrespect” from some Twitter users. Douglas on Wednesday used the same medium explain herself. As if she even needed to do so. He won two NBA titles, walked away with a Hall of Fame-worthy résumé and hasn’t played since the 2013-14 campaign. Perhaps it’s just the itch some athletes get, and it’ll go away at some point, scratched or unscratched. Or perhaps his desire to explore a return stems from wanting to pad his stats.
